FAQs

  • After completing the contact form, I will reach out to you about setting up an appointment. If you prefer to first briefly discuss what you hope to get out of therapy or discuss any questions you have, we can first schedule a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation.

  • In almost every situation therapy is 100% confidential and anything that you tell me will stay in our sessions, unless you’ve given me explicit permission to talk to someone else (such as a family member or psychiatrist).

For your own safety, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, If you’re having thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else, and can’t commit to safety, I may need to work with a family member, close friend, or doctor to get you the support that you need.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means you are responsible for the full payment at the time of each session. However, your insurance provider may reimburse or partially reimburse you for your sessions, often after your deductible has been met for the year. If requested, I will provide you with a superbill (receipt) in order for you to submit a claim for reimbursement. Before your first appointment, please contact your insurance provider directly to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.

    Some helpful questions are:

-Do I have a deductible? If so, how much has been met so far?

-How much will be covered per session?

    -Do I need authorization?

-Is there a limit to the number of sessions per year?

-How do I submit receipts for reimbursement?

I’m also happy to discuss referrals to a psychiatrist for medication evaluation or management, if requested.

  • Individual and couples sessions are 50 minutes.

  • I accept credit card, cash, Venmo, and check. No matter how you wish to pay, a valid credit card on file is required. Payments are made after each session.

  • Due to COVID-19, at this time my practice is fully virtual. I use a HIPAA-compliant platform that was designed for psychotherapy called doxy.me to conduct sessions. It is important that you are able to take sessions in a confidential setting.
